The Evolution of Eclecticism
In the early 80s, New York almost went out of its way to be eclectic. You'd go to see a punk rock band and beforehand they'd be playing Johnny Cash and reggae. So then from that point on, it never made sense to me to focus on one style of music exclusively when there was so much to be gained from being weirdly eclectic. It didn't come naturally to me, but I embraced it and it just sort of wove its way into my musical DNA.
