Cheryl Sandberg's Lean in Is a Shared Strategic Culture

Cheryl Sandberg says in her book, if you ask for a raise, don't go into your boss and say, hey, I need a raise. Actually one of my superiors, i.e. your boss's boss, told me I should come and ask you for a raise. What's great about it is it takes the onus off of you. It's part of a long tradition which occurs among people's conversations every day. We share among these things with each other.
