Is There a Long-Term Trend in Public Spending?
Public spending is not outstandingly high in international terms. If you look at UK public spending as a potential GDP, I think we rank along countries who might regard as relatively similar. There are quite a lot of upward pressures on it. It's right to say that British voters or the British population do want European styles of public services.
