The Death of Husserl's Knocklass
Father Breda had the idea to bring the papers in diplomatic envelopes so that they could cross the border without being inspected. He retrieved the three suitcases from a Benedictine monastery where they had been and brought them by train to Berlin, the very heart of Nazi territory. So if you can just imagine he was a foreigner, a Franciscan monk, and the danger he brought upon himself in doing such an act cannot be underestimated. And he made it. The first victory of the effort to save Husserl's knocklass was accomplished.
