Reducing Jesus to Kindness
When we reduce Jesus to an abstraction, it tends to result in one of three courses. We ignore the fact that Jesus is angry, stern and joyful at times. He's sarcastic and sometimes he's sad. The last course is reduction to what we call neighborness. That means I find Jesus today in my neighbor. But surely studying and knowing Christ in the Gospels is actually the best way to equip you to find him in your neighbor.
