Huxley and Orwell, Animal Farm, Brave New World

In many ways, Orwell was describing a system that used mostly fear and pain. Many of those techniques described in Animal Farm, they are used today. The power using pleasure is less obvious because people don't even see it. They become slaves to pleasure.
