The Importance of Piecemeal Social Engineering in Democracy

In the US, in a way, it's easier to recommend this than elsewhere because the sort of fairly basic parts of the social insurance network either don't exist or need such radical and obvious change. I think there are two elements of this, one of which people might violently disagree with and some one which I think makes sense. The goal should be to kind of remove harm as opposed to kind of promote happiness. And then the second thing is you're saying, we shouldn't really aim for revolution. It's reform, what you call piecemeal social engineering, doing things, small bits.
