Breastfeeding, Matrilineal Societies, and the Adlattle
This chapter discusses the findings of a research study that suggests girls were breastfed for longer than boys based on isotopes found in Tucson animal. The study also explores the use of isotope research to determine the origins of people buried at a site in Santa Clara, indicating a matrilineal society where women stayed in their birth village while men migrated from elsewhere. The burials at the site also indicate that women were generally wealthier than men. The chapter then discusses a new research study on Adlattles, hypothesizing that it equalizes projectile weapon velocity between genders.
