Are You Going to Devote Yourself to the Work of the Church?

If you aren't actively devoting yourselves to do what is good to others in this church, you will naturally be devoted to serving yourself. It's the default state of our heart because we're all fallen in sin. The factory settings, if you will, is self-service and self-interest. And so you'll participate in church until things become difficult, until you hit a wall. In that moment, you will be tempted to remove your presence from the church. I am often shocked by how quickly people raise the white flag when it comes to community life in the church.
