I'm glad I got to see her work ethic. It didn't occur to me that you didn't work a bunch of jobs. Our family was like, the minute you're 15, you get a job somewhere. Your tolerance for sugar was really high. Because they both worked, it was here's a dollar. Go to McDonald's and you could get a whole meal for 95 cents or whatever. My mom didn't cook. So my birthday would be hamburger helper and a Betty Crocker cake for my birthday. And she would make a lemon cake with lemon frosting. But I didn't even know there was a way to make a cake that wasn't a mix.
