i've never really understood irishness in the sense of national territorial identity, and i'm sceptical about the nation state. And i watch what's happening here in britain with interest, is all i say. But there's that side of being irish, which it always felt like being a place to be connected to somewhere else. There was a type of conversation possible in ireland which was different, but not better or worse, a different way of looking at things. Ironically, i didn't get to go on a plane until i was in college and to see these other places. But that was the conversation. In truth, that's how we see it in architecture,
