How to Approach a Job Search Situation

I was looking for a fall 2005 start date. And the truth is, if you're speaking frankly at top tier research institutions for chemistry departments, there are not that many women. So I think if you have a strong candidate that in an underrepresented group in a way, there's almost no reason not to wait. Most big departments aren't going to hire a tenure track faculty member for a class that needs to teach the next fall. They're thinking much more long term.
