Are We Scared as a Society of Dementia?
I think we're stuck in a slightly 20th century view of neurodegenerative disease. We need to get into the 21st century is detecting the disease as many years of not decades before symptoms emerge and then I think we can constantly start talking about cure. By the time you get a dementia syndrome even with drugs like lecanumab they're not going to necessarily prevent the disease progressing maybe by a few months or so but not going to cure the Alzheimer's disease at that stage. So I think this is something we need to really sort of as scientists as clinicians is start working with the public to work on their brain health.
