Is Mysticism a Good Category to Investigate Religious Experience?

Some modern commentators have sought to create a category, mysticism, which encompasses all of these instances. But couldn't we also just say that these people are all having different experiences? Why is there only one basic mysticism one? It's certainly obvious that they describe them differently. So an obvious problem with the category of mysticism is whether it is a useful category for investigating religious experience at all.
