The first 90 days of a new employee's life are critical. Consider how much you can impact the emotional engagement and work relationships of a new team member by thoughtfully intervening at key touch points in those first 90 days. A really powerful idea that I love for onboarding new people is to set up a regular new team member bootcamp where the new person works through real problems with their new teammates as they learn the business.
