The Importance of Breathing in Dance

I noticed with some of the mindfulness practices where there's a lot of focus on breath in this stomach and as a dancer it's part of the training. It took me a really long time to actually feel comfortable with relaxing my abdomen enough to really breathe and allow it to expand. I've been retired for almost 13 years now and I still walk around with quite intense stomach due to so many years of that training. Dancers are hyper aware of their bodies but at the same time have to develop that skill of kind of almost shutting off warning signs aspects things that aren't going to be helpful to performance.
