The Temple and the Priesthood in the Time of Jesus
Even the dedication of the first temple envisioned somehow it being an epicenter for the nations coming to seek God. So that's a great point. It inherently communicates value for the temple and not the other way around. Another thing to keep in mind here is the chief priests are challenging Jesus' authority in kind of a power play. This is kind of a playing out of Isaiah 2. The righteous Gentiles will come up to the glorified, the beautified temple in Zion. And that's where they will worship the God of Israel.
