The Effects of General Relativity on the Size of the Shadow
The black hole in M87, it might be maybe 50 or 60 million light years away. It's also 15 to 18 times as massive as the black hole in the center of our galaxy. And we get an extra boost, by the way, from general relativity,. Because even though we get a size for the event horizon, right? The Schwarzschild radius, the size that we see isn't actually the Schwarzschild radius or the Schwarzschild diameter of the black hole.
