The History of Coffee in America

Coffee doesn't really become a dominant force over tea in the US until much later. The 19th century sees the rise of pre-roasted coffee, and that's the creation of the coffee roasting trade. America obviously takes in huge numbers of migrants, particularly between the 1880s and 1900s from primarily Europe. And those Europeans are already drinking coffee, they are already nurtured in the idea that coffee is what they want to be drinking and to have access to.
