I've Been to the Isle of Lewis and I'm in Awe of It.
Suleskir is the most ancient surface rock in Europe, it's about 3.2 billion years old. I walked over a slept in this beehive sheeling, a architecture of Pictish origin but probably a 19th century structure. These are the Lewis Harris deer forests and as you'll know a Scottish deer forest does not indicate trees,. It indicates a legal designation permitting hunting rights so this is a treeless deer forest and is still stalked and hunted. At one point I saw the flash of binoculars in the loneliest place I'd ever been and realised I was being watched by an estate watcher who they get paid to come in and do a summer season
