Burgdall was captured by a group of men who wanted to kill him. They thought he was weak and brainless, so they tried to banish him from the country. He survived for more than two years in captivity before being released back into civilian life. The taleban guys explained to sammy how they kidnapped bow - but then you remember bow himself is completely at their mercy. His terrified for excellent reason.
