i was raised at a time when a common dance for black children was, you know, conduct yourself in a particular way. And i do think i find myself sometimes performing feels a bit brisk, but it also feels terribly honest. Just acting the way i want to act in a particular moment connected me to my humanity in a more expansive way. Yes, totally understand that feeling.
