Servo is a web rendering engine. We were always focused on like, what does it mean to render a single page in a single window? And can we just ignore everything else that goes on around,. Like all those things that make up a browser right now at some level. So the JavaScript engine is actually sort of a really interesting part of the browser. It is a huge amount of work to build a new JavaScript engine. The Rust language was being built by a really small team. They wanted to show that it's viable but didn't want to dedicate too much time and effort to building an interpreter forRust.
