The Importance of Leadership in Vietnam
In an argument with Callie, shortly after arriving in Hawaii, he found the young Lieutenant Callo and lacking in leadership qualities. He believed that good soldiers not only needed discipline, but liked it. It was the lax discipline in Charlie Company and the fact that officers did not always insist on their orders being carried out that worried him.
