The Power of Passive Voices
The Guardian published a story about Palestinian journalist hit and head by bullet during raid on terror suspects home. The headline makes it sound like the freaking NYPD hit him or something. I mean, ultimately what happened was if you read between the lines, the Israeli military went and demolished some guy's house in Palestine and then shot a journalist in the head who was trying to cover it. But you'd never get that from actually reading the headline. It's just a double, a masterful use of the passive voice there.
