The Evolution of Ideas
Winston Churchill once said he feared there would be controversy over his idea of the evolution of species. He was right, but it's not controversial: children resemble their parents and don't look exactly like their parents. Children are more likely to have children if they are somehow successful in the world. The ones who have the most kids will pass down their traits to the next generation. And now we can talk about the evolution of ideas. Because ide s, good ones, don't repeat themselves, but they rhyme. That what we see in softwer development, in music, in governments, in economics, is ideas evolved.
