The Master Algorithm of Our Economy - You Must Keep Growing
The financial markets basically, the premium is growth. If you're a public company, at some point you have to keep growing because you pay your employees largely in stock. As soon as their growth slows, they can't hire the best people any moret Because those people expect that stock to keep going up. And so there's this master algorithm in a financialized economy which says, you must grow. So what these companies do? They reach a natural plateau, and they can't just go on ad, go out, we're delivering this great service,. You know, let's just keep doing ito.
