Is Orthodoxy an Ideal Category?
Trevin Smith: To what extent is orthodoxy an ideal category in the sense that it's about doctrine, dogma, et cetera? And to what extent is it tied to the lived experience of the church through time? When you talk about forming people's imaginations, it seems to me that the central place in which imaginations are formed to think orthodoxy is in Christian worship. How do you think about that relationship between those two things? Are you worried about orthodoxy being too much of an idealist category? Yes. I mean, there's a pretty strong emphasis throughout this book on not separating deeds and creeds.
