The Council of Trent and the Marian Doctrine

There had been various Marian doctrines held by the church up through here, notably her immaculate conception. The Council of Trent gave freedom to those who wanted to contest whether or not she was immaculately conceived. There are so many different voices that I think are indicative of the breadth of medieval theology and evidence that the Catholic church at the Council of Trent was trying to play mediator.
