Geopolitical Situation of Tang China

This chapter discusses the geopolitical situation of Tang China, focusing on its neighbors to the north and east. It mentions the Turkic Cargonuts ruled by the Gukturks in the steplands north of Tang China, and the expanded state of Kokorea in the Korean Peninsula. Emperor Taizong of Tang China plans a conquest to prevent incursions, reaching out to the Sheyang Tuo, a Turkic peoples who emerged in the aftermath of the Xiongnu. While Tang China successfully defeats and subjugates the east Turkic Cargonut, their campaigns against the west Turkic Cargonut and Kokorea are less successful.
