When you have large supply shocks, maybe ones that last a little bit longer than expected, inflation's high. Do I go after inflation expectations or do I let them self correct and hopefully return to normal? It strikes me that this is kind of the central issue with inflation targeting. "It's hard to know in real time what's driving inflation," he says.
