The Importance of Confidence in Education
I think that my father was and had a lifelong interest in education. He started over the course of his life about 50 institutions, some of which were more successful than others. But one of the most successful that he was involved in starting was the Open University - it's still the single largest higher education institution in Europe. And I did think when sitting down and weighing up whether to try and set up for school, you know, on the one hand, this seemed like an awful lot to take on. You know, who was I to think that I could set up a school? This was clearly a kind of fantastically complicated project involving,you know, battles on a range of different fronts
