The New Elite in the National Conversation
The New Elite is a group of journalists and commentators who essentially view anything outside of the liberal consensus which is shared by about 20% of the country. I think Emily Makeless, John Soapall and Lewis Goodall are great examples of who I call the New Elite. 90% of our journalists now belong to the graduate class half of them went to one of two universities local media is collapsed regional media is collapsed they go straight from the universities into the media newsroom where they're basically surrounded by people who look like them come from the same backgrounds. By the way you see the media landscape fragmenting rapidly since the Brexit referendum BBC Radio 4 today has lost 1.7 million weekly listeners.
