The likelihood that they regain that weight is very high. If you have exercise in there, even aerobic exercise can probably spare fat free mass to a certain degree. A study found that weight loss maintainers were not better at tracking calories than leaner people. They still had the same quote unquote problem, but how, and I say quote unquote, cause they've successfully lost weight.
