The Importance of Fluency in Mandarin in Recruiting
Tom Crane is a Mandarin-speaking CIA officer who was the son of missionaries. Do you have a sense that CIA and FBI have bulked up on language training or recruiting officers who are fluent in Mandarin? I think they're doing better at it. They know it's a priority. Chinese Americans, people who like missionaries or their kids grew up really speaking the language have been invaluable.
