The Importance of Transparency in Physics
It seems really unlikely they would have the exact same amount. So you get a little bit of width to these things, so you have a probability for them to overlap. It's not like you're throwing a dart in an infinitely sized board and having to hit exactly the right spot. That explains why certain gases look certain colors that explains why when you have a fire, you might get like green or blue flashes in it.
