In 1908, Rossi noticed that the chemical process he was using as one of its intermediate steps produced a fine, brilliant white powder. He mixed it with salad oil and famously brushed it across a piece of paper. That's the basis for all kinds of paints and coatings. The bright colors of modern art of the industrial age of streamline modern are this stuff. It's everywhere even today.
