Pester is a tool that lets you run tests on your code without having to do it yourself. It can be used in conjunction with other tools like Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions for continuous integration. Pester helps people who just want to join the community improve the product make it better and so on. You know, I think coordination is also one good aspect of this. If you have a public project, for example on GitHub, you can set up your pipeline in a way that during a pull request, when someone wants to make a change, you run all the tests.
