Using the Third Person

The average british family spends 700 and forty pounds more, or 29 % more money, in december than it spends the rest of the year. So because i don't know the family, i'm just as a generic british fam it's very distant from me, then i'd choose it as the pronoun. For example, my family have decided to come to us for christmas dinner. They don't want to cook this year. Yes, that's exactly how i would say it.
