Alan Lomax's Life in the 1930s

In the 1930s, being an advocate of poor people was a threat in some corners. Lomax's career had even upset members of his own family. FBI Director J Edgar Hoover still headed out for Lomax. In 1950, the anti-communist journal Counter-Attack published a piece called Red Channels that accused 151 actors, musicians, writers, and journalists of being communist sympathizers.
