I like it when games are built with cross-platform in mind. I thought I'd be more interested in whether games were native or not on the Steam Deck, and I'm just not interested as long as they play somehow. If you can guarantee that it's going to work well on Proton, then that's sort of good enough. Imagine you said to Windows developers, why are you targeting Windows? Why don't you just target Proton? And then there's an abstracted layer for the PS3, the PS5, whatever, and they can all point the same thing.
