The separation between art and science has a pretty unedifying history. It's probably fault on both sides historically, which is rooted in stereotypical assumptions about what the other side does. I often think about visual art in particular, because my scientific work is focused quite a lot on vision. And if you look at the work of the impressionists like Monet, Manet, Bizarro and so on, Cezanne can be usedfully seen that way.
