Are You the Prophet?

In matthew, chapter 11 of verses 13, 15 a, the lord jesus was saying that for all the prophets in the law prophesied until john. And if you are willing to accept it, he is elijah who is to come. The same thing is also spoken in Matthew 17 after the transfigurationom the dedisciple are asking, you know, who's first to come? John identified as eno, being the one who is a voice crying out in the wilderness. It would have put a focus on jesus right from the outset. There were probably misconceptions about who elijah would be and what he would do.
