The Last Time the Governor General Called a Double Dissolution
If you can't run the government, then the governor general would dissolve the parliament and call a double dissolution. Has that ever happened? Yeah, it has. It happened the last time that the governor general called it is when he sacked the Labor government run by Gough Whitlam in 1975. And look, I think it's that, well, as leaders have always had popularity going for them. We are voting purely for our local member of parliament but there is no actual prime ministerial vote.
