For maximus, i think grace is the word of god in you. Grace isn't like apower, like, it's not like something other than god. So if christ is in you, even virtually, youret even impotentia. And yes, you need to through synergistic co operation, through prayer, through his cises, through the sacraments, through all that you need to bring that forth. But he does explicitly deny, as you note, right in his dispute with a peris, the bishop.
