Babies Know Everything, Right?
In the early 19 seventies, mary ainsworth came up with four different infant attachment styles. They theorized that this kind of ambient behaviour is, in fact, a mask for distress. So all these attachment styles, besides secure, are insecure. For secure infants, a child who's securely attached will explore freely while the caregiver is present and then they'll be visibly upset when the caregiver departs or returns. But it really is about the relationship, with this primary caregiver, not anything else.
