Marline and Lulu were devastated by the death of their father philip. The girls had been enjoying a special treat from uncle richard's party. But now there was no one, ever again to prevent them enjoying themselves. They watched ironside while snuggled together under a wool blanket on the sofa. Now they can't do anything naughty because nana will adopt them. This was a sobering prospect even for lulu.
