The way that the New York Times presented this was like oh here's this unnerving AI and like the most right but you better never attach this to anything that has arms because it's going to try to fuck you and then kill you is what was kind of implied. I don't know though because he wrote both he wrote the story and so who knows if the editor was like noDon't use this part only use  the cynical thing that Merlin's thinking anyway which is like well of course we're gonna make this into some kind of boogaboo goo story.
