Northern ireland's shinfane party won a historic victory in parliamentary elections over the week end. Shinfane was long associated with the militant irish republican army, but it's re invented itself and wants to unify northern ireland and the republic of ireland. Willit open the door to irish reunification? Well, certainly not immediately. It sounds like they really have to get the timing right. But during the campaign, shinfin and its leader, michel o'neil, did not a about unification. They focused on the economy and cost of living issues.
