Is Experience the Achilles Heel of Evangelicalism?
I prefer encounter over experience because I guess I'm just throwing this out there. Josh McDowell always used to get a big sweat ball right at the end of his nose after preaching. He's such a phenomenalologist. Stanley Howard was okay, but he blamed Wesley for all the things that went wrong in Methodism. So I actually think maybe we need another word for experience. What does studying theology with a woman change, shape, help like people like Mike and I or other people who are women? How does that change things? Who you're being taught by always changes things, including the particularities of gender, race, class, location, culture, tradition, denomination, et ceter
